Double-spacing issue

Along similar lines, this was not always true but has become true in the
last few incarnations of askSam and applies to plain text documents,
single-spaced, and stripped of formatting. When I select, cut and paste a
document from askSam into Outlook Express or Word, the result is that one
space is added to every line, which is annoying. Sometimes the added line
space occurs between hard returns. But when I drop the selection first into
UltraEdit, change one letter, and format it, (I know it sounds complex but
it is a series of quick moves) then move it to either Word or Outlook
Express, no extra lines are added. Although this is much less serious than
dropping bombs on a non-aggressor nation, I would prefer if there were a way
to control the extra line spacing from within askSam.
Peace.

Bonnie Britt

| What do you mean you tried searching and couldn't find anything?
|
| Regarding the double-spacing issue, I know what you mean. This is more of
an
| HTML coding problem however. When you get a text formatted message, each
| line ends with a hard return. In HTML formatting a hard return means the
end
| of a paragraph and the start of a new one with a space between paragraphs
| (as opposed to a soft return which has no break between lines). So text
| formatted messages when imported into askSam have this weird double-spaced
| formatting.
|
| What doesn't make sense is that some HTML formatted messages import just
| fine, but others have two or more lines separating paragraphs. This is a
| programming issue and I don't know if there is an easy answer or solution
to
| this problem.
|
| Best Regards, Phil

|
| Not sure if this has been covered before -- I tried searching and couldn't
| find anything...
|
| When importing my emails (from Outlook XP) into askSam, all of the emails
| are double-spaced (i.e., there's an extra carriage return between each
| line). Is there a way to stop this behavior? I realize, to some people,
| this may not be a problem, but it makes reading the emails more
difficult --
| all the scrolling you have to do.
|
| Thanks, in advance, for any suggestions.
|
| Take care,
| Kathy
