Looking at this I see some possibilities for reinforcing a difficult
archiving solution. It means more steps in the process - convert to
postscript and use this converter to convert to html/gif. This avoids the
necessity of completely relying on PDF. And since HTML is an open standard
this might avoid any possible problems further down the line. Of course
integrating a PDF and .ps creation into the submission process might avoid
some post-submission conversion.
